Simburbia Teaser #1

A new map is coming for 1.8. It’s a kind of map that many have attempted and most have failed. rsmalec and I devised a system that would work and this is the map we’ve been working on and actually have a functional version for 1.7… but 1.8 makes it so much easier. So after toiling away for quite some time I have almost upgraded most of the systems and it might actually run on peoples computers now. Since I’m tired of being cryptic I’ll lay it all out right here. It’s a Sim City type game with some very interesting systems in place… It’s going to be awesome.

It also has some cool customisation options too.

Wouldn’t be possible without @texelelf‘s filters and even Faume & Moesh have been able to join in on the fun with some of the builds.

Infinity ∞ Dungeon Beta

Hello everyone! This is a new map I decided to let out into the wild a little bit early. It relies on the 1.8 snapshots that include the latest “clone” command. It will not work in 1.7 at all. In any case it’s a full randomised dungeon crawler. It has randomised chests, randomised mobs, and the layout is randomised every time you pull the Infinity machine lever. Each time you’ll get a different experience and it seems like there is even some emergent gameplay thrown in there that I certainly didn’t predict would happen.

There are a few bugs, particularly: When you die, the clear commands stop working which means the magic book and quill no longer allow you to teleport among a few other things. That can simply be fixed by leaving and joining your game again. In addition, if you plan to play in a multiplayer environment, you must have a superfast upload speed or this map will grind to a halt for the people connected to you. It will work well on a LAN and on dedicated servers with nice fat tubez to the net quite well though.

So play at your own risk, snapshot 14w10c or later. Any bugs you find, feel free to report them here or on the Minecraft forum thread.

What I’m working on: Herobrine 3

Some people already know this, it was mentioned at Minecon 2013. But I was asked to help Hypixel with Herobrine 3. I am tasked with some redstone, some boss mechanics and some story building. Those of you who have played my maps before know I enjoy a good story (if sometimes a little convoluted, I’m looking at you Eronev 2) so I am hoping to flesh out the Herobrine legacy a little bit. It’s looking bigger and better than any of the previous Herobrine maps so far so you should definitely be excited.

So while it isn’t specifically a Jigarbov Production, it is what I’m working on next. You’ll be able to play it in the adventure lobby of the Hypixel server when it comes out… when is it coming out? I don’t know. You’ll have to pester Hypixel on twitter @hypixel

As a little teaser, here is the redstone for the first boss that I worked on. What you can see there is all me, it’s certainly unlike any boss you’ve seen before and I’m really looking forward to watching people play it and enjoy a Herobrine map with a healthy dose of Jigarbov inspiration inside.

What about my own projects? Something might be in the works, but it’s too early to tell if it’s something that will be able to be done yet. It will certainly have to wait until Herobrine 3 is done though. Keep an eye out for it.

1.7 Updates and New Adventure Map!

1.7 is almost here, and with it a whole host of new challenges. I am going to be working to update all of my maps ASAP to be working for 1.7. If you start any of the maps now, it’s recommended that you FINISH the map first before upgrading to 1.7 else you may break something. If anything is not compatible for 1.7 by the time 1.7 comes out, there will be a little status notice somewhere on this website (probably on the download pages).

At least, for the most part, there are very minimal changes that need to be made. Unfortunately City of Love will be impacted the most because of the way the chat window displays text is now vastly different than before which may cause some issues, but I’ll figure that out when I get to it. Soul Cauldron has some issues with Villager trading which @texelelf has been kind enough to provide a filter that will fix said issues, and let’s not even talk about the amount of fixes that may be necessary to fix the adventure multiplex maps.

You would think that with all of this work that it takes each time an update comes around so that the maps can still be played that it would put a dent in my resolve to make content. But nope. It doesn’t. My new map is coming, and it is made for 1.7 and uses a bunch of cool tech in 1.7. It’s a short map, very story and special effects focused, and_should_be impossible for rsmalec to break. The first teaser trailer is scheduled to be unlocked in some hours, which you’ll be able to view here. I hope you enjoy it.
